EGCG: THE "INVISIBLE PARASOL"

PROTECTION FOR THE SKIN

Woman with Matcha Drink

As the Summer continues to be hot, sun protection is your daily necessity.
Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, and the numbers are growing.
The leading causes are increased solar radiation (UV rays) and higher life expectancy (skin cancer occurs more frequently in old age).

Use Green tea as a protective factor against UV rays

Researchers say the more often you drink green tea, the more resistant you become to the sun’s harmful UV rays.
EGCG is the most powerful of the four green tea polyphenols when it comes to overcoming the carcinogenic activity of UV radiation. The catechin EGCG is the main flavonoid compound of green tea. Here is a short introduction to Flavonoids, and we promise there won’t be a test at the end.

“Flavonoids represent the largest and most powerful group of phenols. There are several significant groups of flavonoids, including anthocyanidins, flavanols, flavones, flavonols, flavonones and isoflavones.” Flavonoids and biophenols are potent antioxidants and protect against skin cancer caused by UV radiation.

Conclusion:

There are also some amounts in caffeine, citrus peel, cranberries, and red wine biophenols. But one of the most famous antioxidants with sun-protecting effects is Green tea extract (EGCG).  Studies have shown green tea polyphenols offer protection against the harmful effects of UV radiation and can reduce skin aging caused by extensive sunbathing. They inhibit the formation of free radicals and reduce mutations and DNA damage. In addition to their antioxidant effects, green tea polyphenols also have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects.

If you incorporate green tea into personal care, you can reduce the risk of sunburn and more severe skin damage. Use the natural protection of green tea against UV rays.

Of course, sunscreen is an essential factor, but it can increase your natural skin protection when combined with green tea.
